The west side of Lake Placid, Florida, is where Lake June in Winter is located. With a surface area of more than 3000 acres, this lake was formerly known as Lake Stearns. It is shaped like a kidney and contains coves towards the northwest and northeast sides. This lake is bordered towards the south and filled with residences and residential areas on the north side, and a little bit on the east side as well. The June in Winter Scrub Preserve State Park western shore is connected to Lake June through its borders. Also, you can find lovely canal homes to Lake June within the Lake Placid area.
Furthermore, there’s public access available towards Lake June’s shoreline. The west side of this lake consists of Lake June-in-Winter Scrub State Park. You can find trails, picnic areas, and a shelter in this park. According to its description on the Florida State Park’s website, the public can launch canoes and kayaks from shore, including fishing from the shore as well. There are two more public parks located on the lake’s shores. Towards the south side of their northeast cove, there’s the Lake June Park Sports Complex. It consists of picnic tables, a public boat ramp, a swimming beach, and softball diamonds. The second park is located towards the opposite side of this one, at the north side of their same cove. It is called H. L. Bishop Park and it consists of a fishing dock, a public boat ramp, and picnic tables. There are two canals that connect to area lakes. There is one connected to Lake August towards the south, but it can’t be navigated. The second one goes to the north side from the northwest cove and it is connected to Lake Henry. It can be accessed from Lake June via a canal ride. Generally, canal homes at Lake Placid start at $140,000. A lot of the canal homes at Lake June are offered in the low $200’s.
Also, Lake June is known as the only gated community in that area that consists of great beaches with lovely views. Homes there start from the low $400’s up to several million and are located in a small development next to Sunset Pointe. When it comes to lake lots within the community, their prices start from $150,000, while certain inside lots can be found in the $60’s.
